Is VR gaming over-hyped?

Posted on May 23, 2018 at 8:56 pm

VR gaming was all the rage over the last year or so, and for good reason. The technology has come a long way and it generated a real buzz, and still is to some degree, however, people haven’t exactly fully jumped on VR games just yet, and the typical games console is still hugely popular, so it hasn’t reinvented gaming or revolutionised it in any way just yet. Some say “VR continues to be an unwieldy solution in search of a problem, and shows no signs of ever becoming a mainstream technology.”

It hasn’t quite captured the imagination of gamers just yet, and that’s not to say that it will not some day, but for the next few years, the bigger improvement in gaming are going to be related to processing power, 4K and visuals. How do you feel about VR gaming? We’d love it if you sent us a message to tell us your thoughts.

Should you allow your child to play video games in the school holidays?

Posted on March 31, 2018 at 3:41 pm

With the Easter holidays coming up, many children look forward to having days away from the classroom, but video games shouldn’t be their number one priority. Don’t get us wrong, we absolutely love video games, but at a young age it’s so important to maintain healthy relationships with friends, and going outdoors, playing football and climbing trees is what it’s all about. That’s not to say that there is no time at all for playing video games in the school holidays, afterall they’re enjoyable. That said, several friends can play games together, enjoying memories so a few hours here or there isn’t a problem. But just because you can access games and play your friends online, doesn’t mean you should. Why not have your child spend time with their friends at your home or their friend’s home, so they’re still engaging without being too absorbed in a make believe world.
